By designing products like Eco Solution Q according to a Cradle to Cradle design philosophy, we're helping our communities and our planet by diverting waste from landfills, reducing the volume of virgin raw material we use in the production cycle, and ensuring the products we deliver can be recycled back into themselves again and again at the end of their useful lives.
Our premium branded Nylon 6 carpet fiber, Eco Solution Q contains 45% recycled content * β including 20% pre-consumer recycled content and 25% post-consumer recycled content sourced from caprolactam (the monomer or 'building block' of Nylon 6) recovered through our Evergreen Nylon 6 Recycling facility in Augusta, Georgia. The recycled content is based on allocated nylon fiber from Shaw's total nylon fiber production and determined as a percent of total Eco Solution Q nylon output; actual recycled content will likely vary.
In addition to helping divert used carpet from landfills, Eco Solution Q made with caprolactam recovered from Evergreen uses 40% less energy than fiber made exclusively with virgin caprolactam according to Life Cycle Assessment data verified by PE Five Winds International. And the recycled content in Eco Solution Q also helps maximize the opportunity to achieve LEED points for environmentally responsible flooring β especially in conjunction with Shaw's EcoWorx Cradle to CradleSM Silver certified carpet backing.
Also Cradle to Cradle Silver certified, Eco Solution Q has been assessed by the Cradle to Cradle protocol to ensure it is safe for human health and the environment. It is also fully recyclable back into carpet fiber through Evergreen. All EcoWorx products with Eco Solution Q fiber are backed by a Global Environmental Guarantee that pledges Shaw will reclaim and recycle it back into new carpet at the end of its useful life β at no cost to the customer.
More than 740 Shaw products made with Eco Solution Q are available through the Shaw Contract Group, Patcraft and Philadelphia/Queen commercial brands.
