Shaw Contract Group Wins 2005 Sustainability™Award

Dalton, GA - Shaw Contact Group received the North Carolina Sustainability™Award in the category of Product Stewardship. Shaw Contract Group was recognized in the category for its environmental commitment and design through the use of EcoSolution Q yarn and EcoWorx backing. Both products have been optimized through the MBDC protocol, ensuring they are safe for human health and the environment. As cradle-to-cradle products, all the materials in the products can be recycled in a continuous loop, again and again, back into the original material. Also, EcoWorx is backed with an environmental guarantee, meaning Shaw guarantees it will pick up EcoWorx at the end of its life, at no charge to the customer, and recycle it into more EcoWorx. "The award is an achievement for Shaw's environmental program and for our sales professionals. We take personal ownership and responsibility for educating the markets with our environmental capabilities," said Steve Bradfield, corporate director of environmental affairs. According to Sustainable North Carolina, the winners were organizations operating or based in North Carolina, and have recognized the realities of a changing global business climate with the goal of building a sustainable future. Specifically with the Product Stewardship Award, candidates will have introduced a product that minimally impact waste streams, human health, and our ecosystem relative to industry standards.
