Floor Covering Weekly Recognizes Shaw in GreenStep Awards
In recent years, we have been widely recognized by a variety of businesses, non-profits and publications for our deep-rooted commitment to Sustainability through Innovation® -- the Shaw Green Edge®. These awards and recognition programs are vitally important to growing valued credibility for our sustainability commitment and initiatives for our customers and stakeholders.
Recently, we were once again recognized for our sustainability leadership accomplishments, this time by Floor Covering Weekly's 3rd Annual GreenStep Environmental Awards. We received awards in 2009, and were happy to once again earn this important recognition by the publication. These annual awards are determined by a panel of distinguished industry experts and recognize the outstanding environmental contributions of organizations throughout the industry. Floor Covering Weekly developed the awards to help showcase leadership in the areas of environmental sustainability and stewardship, for which more than 80 entries were submitted this year.
In summer 2011, we were honored to receive the following awards:
- Process Award Honoree
We were a GreenStep Process Award Honoree for Re2E. Our latest example of Sustainability through Innovation in action, Re2E is a new energy reclamation facility designed to recover energy from post-consumer carpet that cannot be recycled by any other means. Located in Dalton, Re2E will eventually process more than 76 million pounds of reclaimed carpet into steam and electricity each year.
- Pinnacle honoree for overall achievement
Our total, company-wide commitment to Sustainability through Innovation – the Shaw Green Edge – was recognized with a GreenStep Pinnacle Award Honoree.
- Pinnacle winner: Anderson Hardwood Floors
This year, Anderson Hardwood received one of two Pinnacle Environmental Leader of the Year awards. This top honor recognized Anderson Hardwood Floors as a leader in sustainable hardwood production. Mohawk also received a Pinnacle award.
